So I had the idea a couple of days ago, about rigging some DSM intercoolers to fit our cars to save money. Waggz (sorry if i spelled it wrong) says that the power gain would not be comparable to the amount of work involved. I mostly agree with this, but I would like to see, just to spark some thought before I try welding some tubes to work I snapped a couple of pics to try to compare the DSM Intercoolers Vs stock, and then to show contrast against a popular Aftermarket intercooler vs stock.. I guess I'm mainly wondering if anyone else thinks this is worth it or am i just barking up the wrong tree. here is the 1st pic of DSM vs stock

and the 2nd pic

here is some popular aftermarkets vs stock for comparison.

the main thing I am concerned with performance wise is the flow. I am sure the ones meant for the Z will flow much better, with less turbulance. Again, not even sure if I will dive into this but if possible and practical I guess it might be worth the effort to save a few hundred bucks. now to draw up some concepts and find an aluminum welder =-)
 It's not turbo lag, It's foreplay! |
